Dip your toe in and dare to get wet.

Feel like taking a dip? There are two public beaches in Carleton Place, one at Riverside Park which also includes public washrooms off the Canoe Club, a splash-pad, playground and picnic area. The other is across the river at Centennial Beach.

On the lake, locals swim from the boat at any clear spot. The water tends to be deep and clear along Squaw Point shoreline. On the Big Lake many head to Sand Island but beware of poison ivy!

The shallow water and sandy bottom where Hay Shore meets Gardiner Shore off the 10th Line of Beckwith is another favourite, though forget about pulling large boats up on shore—too shallow!

Riverside Beach

Riverside Beach is equipped with a play structure, splash pad, washroom facilities, picnic tables and trees to provide cool shade on a hot day.

Centennial Beach

Just across the river from Riverside Beach is Centennial Beach. Enjoy the day relaxing in our picnic area and cooling off in the Mississippi.

Both beaches are open from mid June to the end of August. During this time, lifeguards are on duty from 9:30am – 6:00pm. Please note that hours may be reduced due to inclement weather or beach closure due to pollution. Water quality is tested by Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit. All patrons must respect closure signage.

Carleton Place Pool

Enjoy an indoor swim in our 25 meter pool or relax in the therapeutic pool. Small children will love to splash in the warm wading pool.
